"Board" at NGV Studio
Tuesday, November 15, 2011 at 7:05PM The deck that I've been working is currently on display for "Board" at NGV Studio in Melbourne, until the 5th of Feb. I'm hoping to make it down to Melbourne while the show's still up to check out all the work!
For now, here are some process of my deck. I enjoyed working on it so much that I'm sad that it's over and gone!

1. Beginning by wasting some decorative masking tape, just because I didn't want to stop and go and buy the proper stuff! 2. Masked stripes and leaf sketches. 3. Matching paint to my studio buddy. 4-5-6. Leaves and backgrounds in the making. 7. The latest palette solution: clear plastic stuck on the artwork. 8. Hacking in the bird with my favourite dreary art-making weather. 9. More supervision from my night time studio buddy. 10. Wing details. 11. Last-minute finishing of the final details.
Final artwork pic tomorrow!

You've been doing a lot of art on your board. I'm loving the details on the wings. How many days did it took you to finish these?
Thanks Vivian! I had a about a week to work on it all up, since the board had to be sent to me, and then I had to allow time to send it back too. I worked through one whole weekend on it, and then mornings and nights around work on the weekdays. Nothing like a deadline to get you going though!
