Alex Louisa is a self-taught artist from Brisbane, Australia. Once completely obsessed with creating artworks only with ink and coloured pencil, she is currently exploring and enjoying the move from 'drawer' to 'painter,' and wondering why on earth it took her so long to pick up a paintbrush.

In most of her works, Alex likes to try to depict an animal's individual personality - putting a bit of a spin on a realistically-rendered creature, pairing it with graphic elements, punchy lighting and a patterned background. You might also notice that she is somewhat fond of drawing wrens. It's unavoidable really, as they bounce along her studio windowsill all day, driving her to distraction.

She is, however, finding people and figures ever more intriguing, and is currently working on a series surrounding one particular character and her growing obsession with pocketwatches and time. Alex is looking forward to plenty of painting in the coming months, as she maps out this girl's story, much of which will be on a larger scale than she has been used to previously.

Her german shepherd Shadow is also happy she's started painting, as paintbrushes taste remarkably like sticks.
